Thai massage is part of a rich indigenous medicinal traditions that draw influence from India, Southeast Asia and China. Many of these traditions are thousands of year old.
Thai massge is just one small piece of an amazing system of health and healing. It is an effective way to relieve chronic muscle tension, headaches, neck and back pain, sciatic nerve pain, and digestive disorders as well as effectively reducing the mental anxiety and physical discomfort brought on by the cumulative effects of everyday stress. The results of this work often lasts for days, leaving the receiver with a general sense of calm, openness and mental clarity, accompanied by the unique feeling of having been plugged-in and recharged- physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
In a Thai massage session the practitioner guides the client through a series of supine (upright) and seated yoga postures, while palming, stretching, and thumbing along the body’s energy lines and pressure points. Stretching these muscles makes these channels more receptive to flow. Offering health and flexibility.
Different from Western massage, no oil is used. It is received on a traditional Thai mat. The client should be dressed in loose comfortable clothing. So you can easily move through each posture.
